History

illamette Management Associates was founded in Portland, Oregon, in 1969. Over the years, the firm grew in both size and reputation. In 1985 the firm opened an office in suburban Washington, DC. In 1991, Robert F. Reilly and Robert P. Schweihs became the equity partners and managing directors of our firm. The headquarters were then transferred to Chicago. To better serve our clients, the firm opened an office in Atlanta in 1995. A few years later, in 2000, we opened our New York office. From these five offices, we serve clients nationwide and across the globe.

The first book written by Willamette Management Associates analysts was published in 1981 by Dow Jones Irwin (now McGraw-Hill). This book, Valuing a Business, is the largest selling business valuation book of all time and is now in its 5th edition. Many other books have also been written and edited by our managing directors.
